Inspired by 19th-century straw thread winders, these small, star-shaped tools were once used to hold precious silk threads within early workboxes.

Each piece in this collection is individually hand-crafted in wood, echoing the geometry and quiet beauty of those earlier forms. No two are exactly alike. Proudly crafted in the USA. 🇺🇸

The Collection is a twelve-month experience. Each month includes a thread winder, a skein of silk floss, and a piece of historical writing inspired by the origins and use and evolution of straw thread winders. By the end of 12 months, you will have collected:
