Diane Phillips

Diane has been a rug hooker for over 25 years, specializing in original patterns and hand-dyed wools. Diane loves to experiment with varying motifs, but portraits of animals and humans, as well as rugs with words, are her favorite subjects.

Diane has taught beginning and advanced rug hooking workshops throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. For eight years Diane was the director of the Hooked in the Mountains Rug School at the Shelburne Museum in Vermont, in conjunction with the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild. Her work has been showcased in exhibits, books, and magazines. In the last two years Diane has completed a book, Loose Threads, as well as a line of hooked purses and totes. Samples of Diane’s work can be seen on her website.

Diane and her husband, Bruce Toder, love to travel and explore, always looking for new ideas and unique materials. They live in Fairport, N.Y with three former street dogs, now very contented lap dogs. Diane also maintains professional studio space in a building with 45 other artists in downtown Rochester, NY.
